About Ledgerly

Ledgerly is a free personal finance site for people in their 20s and 30s. We explain budgeting, emergency funds, debt, investing and financial independence with plain numbers and working calculators.

What we publish

  • Guides that walk through one money decision, with a worked example.
  • Weekly briefs that explain the week's economic data and money news and what they mean for an ordinary budget.
  • Topic pages and a glossary: guides grouped into five topics in reading order, a glossary of the terms we use, and an explainer for the economic calendar.
  • Calculators and live data: budget, compound growth, debt payoff and FIRE calculators, plus inflation, interest rates, an economic calendar and crypto prices.

How we write and check

  • Every worked example states its assumptions, and the numbers are calculated in code from those assumptions rather than typed by hand.
  • Facts about the economy come from official sources first: the Federal Reserve, FRED, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the CFPB and the SEC. Each guide lists its sources, and we check the links when we update it.
  • When we cite news, we name the publisher and link to the original. We summarise in our own words and never republish articles.
  • Guides show the date they were last updated. We review them when the underlying rules or data change.

Independence

Ledgerly does not sell investment products, signals or paid placements. If we ever add affiliate links, they will be clearly labelled and will not change what we recommend.

Data sources

  • Inflation, interest rates and unemployment: FRED, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (monthly).
  • Economic calendar: the ForexFactory weekly calendar feed (updated every 30 minutes).
  • Crypto prices: Binance, Bybit and MEXC public market data; Fear & Greed from Alternative.me.
  • Headlines: public RSS feeds from the publishers and regulators listed on our news page.

Not financial advice

Ledgerly is general education. It does not know your situation and is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. For decisions about your own money, consider a licensed professional.
